About The LHPSSA
The Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association, Inc. encourages and promotes fishing and diving activities off the coast of South Florida. Its goal is to encourage camaraderie of its members, safety in all water activities, and conversation of all marine life not just for our members but for our member’s children. The activities of the club are designed with these goals in mind.
Membership Meetings
The LHPSSA holds a monthly Membership Meeting on the last Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held at Galuppi’s Restaurant in Pompano Beach. The meetings starts with a cash bar social reception which leads into the buffet dinner. The program usually includes an introduction of any visiting or potential members, fish stories from club members, board update presentation, and then a talk from our guest speaker. At the end of the meeting, several door prizes are given out, as well a raffle prize.

Hat Tournaments
The LHPSSA is the home of the Hat Tournament. Throughout the year, the club schedules Hat Tournaments. Members are allowed to enter as a boat captain or angler. Each boat captain gets to choose a member that is participating to be their mate. The rest of the anglers names are pulled from a hat at random to fill each team. This is a great way to meet other members and to learn techniques, tips, and tricks from the knowledge and skill sets held by our membership. The LHPSSA also hosts other club tournaments outside of our Hat Tournaments.

Events
Throughout the year, the LHPSSA hosts different social events. The second Tuesday of every month, the club hosts a Happy Hour from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at The Cove Waterfront Restaurant and Tiki Bar in Deerfield Beach. Other events include Raft-Ups for holidays and special events, a Halloween party in October, and a Holidays Party in December. Spouses are welcome at LHPSSA social events.

Trips
The LHPSSA plans fishing trips, as well as social trips throughout the year. The club plans multiple trips to the Bahamas for fishing and diving. There is an annual social trip to the Florida Keys. The club also plans an international trip every year. The fishing trips are a great way to experience a new fishery or new technique of fishing at a discounted costs due to club members splitting expenses. The social trips are a great way to meet other members and their families while spending time in an incredible location.

Annual Awards
The LHPSSA gives out annual awards to its members. During a summer meeting, the club hosts an awards ceremony. Spouses are welcome at this meeting and presented a rose at the door. The awards categories include:
Major Categories: Club Champion, Florida Champion, Tournament Champion, Most Atlantic Sailfish Releases in a Day, and Most Outstanding Catch
Offshore Categories: Dolphin, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Blackfin Tuna, Broadbill Swordfish, and Cobia
Inshore Categories: Snook, Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish, and Redfish
Scuba Categories: Grouper, Snapper, Hogfish, and Pelagic
Freediving Categories: Grouper, Snapper, Hogfish, and Pelagic
